The world’s largest technology distributor, Ingram Micro Inc., owners of CE distribution powerhouses AVAD and DBL Distributing, hosted a vendor expo for customers this past weekend in Phoenix, Arizona, at the Talking Stick Resort.

The iGo Green series features smart charging that automatically cuts power to an outlet when the charger senses that the connected device has reached maximum charge. Then the charger rechecks the device every 30 minutes to make sure it is still fully charged. Click here for a full slideshow from the expo.

Don Anderson, DBL Distributing’s director of sales and customer service, said the event’s theme was “Partner Smart” and hoped it would “provide an opportunity for dealers to partner with their sales reps and strategic vendors.”

Ingram Micro’s VP of strategic divisions, John Soumbasakis, commented that many dealers “have been branching out and doing more commercial work and that Ingram Micro wants to support their installation partners in this new growth area.”

The expo featured more than 100 different vendors, including Samsung, OmniMount, Panamax, Bell’O, AVAD, Channel Vision, Sherwood, and Microsoft, allowing west coast integrators that didn’t attend CEDIA an opportunity to check out some of the latest technologies and meet with vendor representatives to discuss business opportunities.

Many dealers in attendance talked about how they were looking to accessories to provide lost profit and add-on sales in areas where they previously hadn’t looked for business.
