CEDIA Helps ESCs Train Industry Partners

Most electronic systems contractors agree that connecting with architects, builders, and interior designers can be a great way to open the doors to new business. One way to reach this market, according to CEDIA at least, is to offer an opportunity for these trade partners to learn about home technology while they simultaneously earn continuing education credits.
CEDIA’s Registered Outreach Instructor (ROI) program was created so that CEDIA members could present relevant and timely education to industry partners within their geographic regions.
To become an ROI, you must be a CEDIA member and you must pass the “Train the Trainer” course. The next ROI “Train the Trainer” class will take place, December 2-3 at the CEDIA Training Facility in Indianapolis, Indiana.
CEDIA ROI Kurt Korfhage of Integration Unlimited praised the program as one of the best tools that a CEDIA member can invest in to educate their partners while gaining their trust and their business. “It raises the level of respect we get as an industry because they will realize that we are genuine, knowledgeable resources,” he said.
Becoming an ROI also provides these other advantages:
• The opportunity to author articles in leading CEDIA and industry partner publications
• Crosspoint resources
• Specialized ROI marketing tools
• Advertisement via print publications, electronic ads, the CEDIA web site, and
• e-blasts to industry partners
• Consideration to present at regional speaking events
• Quarterly newsletter
• Special promotions on ROI and CEDIA merchandise
CEDIA says that it is constantly revising and developing courseware for this program with the help of subject matter experts and CEDIA staff. Currently CEDIA is an approved provider of continuing education for eight industry groups, including The American Institute of Architects, The American Society of Interior Designers, and The National Association of Home Builders.
