Stereo East Home Theater opened in the late 1980s as a Pioneer Laserdisc Store and has evolved into a custom integration firm offering cutting edge AV products. Gary Montagna, who has been in the industry for 25 years, says the firm specializes in new home prewire, media room design and installation, and Crestron automation. He has been an Epson dealer for four years.

How do you rate the 9700 UB?
The Epson Pro Cinema 9700 UB is a very high performing product.  Its $3,000 price range is deceptive, as it has proved superior to products we have sold in the last two years in the range of $10,000 and more.

For what types of installations is it best suited?
The Epson Pro Cinema 9700 UB is best suited for standard media rooms with light control.  The projector is very tolerant of placement thanks to excellent vertical and horizontal lens shift.

What is one feature of 9700 UB that stands out in your projects?
Dependability is one of the Pro Cinema 9700 UB’s most important features.  When a projector is down, the customer loses use of the room and tends to not to be very happy with the time it takes for service.  Epson has an incredibly low failure rate, and if we ever do encounter a problem, they provide an advanced replacement unit making it easier for us to satisfy our customers.

What features would you like to see changed or added?
We are currently awaiting the new exciting Epson Pro Cinema 61000 which features 235 anamorphic zoom capabilities.
