Two Companies Join Savant Program

By RS Staff, August 24, 2010

Savant Systems has added Luxul Wireless and tekmar Control Systems to its Excellence in A/V cooperative program.

The Excellence in A/V initiative was created to achieve global compatibility between Savant’s control systems and a diverse group of best-in-class manufacturers from the audio, video, lighting control, HVAC, and security industries, as well as devices and subsystems from many related markets.

Luxul Wireless delivers cost-effective solutions for enhancing the performance of wireless networks using patented antenna and signal boosting technologies, according to the company. Luxul Wireless products improve the performance of traditional access points by 400 percent or more while also reducing overall infrastructure, installation, and maintenance costs.

“With Luxul technology, a single wireless access point can deliver Wi-Fi coverage to an entire home—reducing costs and eliminating concerns over dropped signal or data loss between multiple access points,” explained Luxul’s VP of marketing, Clark Roundy. “We received feedback through our sales channel that compatibility with Savant’s automation platform should be a priority, and the Excellence in A/V program addresses that for our distribution partners.”

tekmar Control Systems develops and manufactures controls for the hot-water heating industry that includes applications such as radiant floor heating commonly found in luxury homes and ski resorts. tekmar also maintains an extensive network of distributors that deliver sales and service to a worldwide marketplace.

The tekmarNet Gateway 482 provides RS 232 serial communication between tekmarNet Thermostats and Savant home automation systems, enabling the control system to monitor and adjust tekmarNet Thermostat heating, cooling, and fan settings.

“Our new Gateway 482 allows tekmarNet Thermostats to integrate with Savant’s automation platform, enabling tekmar’s HVAC products to integrate fully along with A/V, lighting, and other systems,” stated Jay Vath, new products engineer, sales and marketing at tekmar.
