Arcam is now shipping a new flagship AVR, the AV860 12-Channel Preamp-Processor.

Arcam is now shipping a new flagship AVR, the AV860 12-Channel Preamp-Processor.

The latest addition to the Arcam AVR line, the AV860 features a host of high-end features including Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoding, 4K HDMI2.0a with HDCP2.2, and Hi-Res audio support.

Like the AV850, reviewed in the February issue of Residential Systems, the AV860 features the latest room correcting technology from Dirac Research. Using advanced digital processing, Dirac Live for Arcam provides a retailer the ability to improve acoustic performance of clients’ setup for the best possible experience.

Together with Arcam’s amplifier technology, object-based Dolby Atmos and DTS-X deliver captivating sound. Both video and audio stages are designed to embrace current and upcoming technologies. HDMI2.0a with HDCP2.2, 4K Ultra HD, HDR, and 3D video capability are engineered in.

The AV860’s processing begins by ensuring the incoming digital audio signal is as clean as possible using proprietary re-clocking that reduces jitter to nearly unmeasurable levels. Then state-of-the-art, DSP-based processing and digital-to-analog conversion is applied. The processed signal is then fed through properly engineered analog circuits that minimize noise, all controlled by a fully analog volume control to maximize clarity.

Control is available via Ethernet, enabling a fully integrated whole-house control systems with drivers for Control4 and Crestron, or via the iOS MusicLife UPnP/control app. RS-232, 12V triggers, and standard IR control are also included.

The AV860 is available now in the U.S. through The Sound Organisation’s Authorized Arcam retailers at a MSRP of $5,500.
