URC Introduces HomeSet Automation System

URC has introduced HomeSet, a streamlined system optimized for the home security solutions channel.

URC has introduced HomeSet, a streamlined system optimized for the home security solutions channel, and integrates with Z-Wave devices, Nest, SONOS and hundreds of other popular devices, and can control up to eight rooms.

“This is a completely new system build from the ground up by URC— new technology, new hardware, new software, said Jon Sienkiewicz, general manager, URC HomeSet Division. “It utilizes cloud-based programming and maintenance, and offers cloud compatibility with other cloud-based systems.”

The included HomeSet app is unique and allows rapid launching of up to eight embedded apps, including full compatibility with control apps from every major security and alarm panel manufacturer. Configuration and guided setup is performed via an online portal to a cloud-based control platform, and can be completed on any computer, tablet, etc.

“Security installation companies are challenged by competition from large non-traditional security providers,” Sienkiewicz said. “HomeSet offers a way for them to diversify their business model easily and sensibly. Control of home entertainment pieces like TVs, Blu-ray, audio equipment and soundbars—plus lighting, door locks, thermostats and more—keeps the homeowner active and engaged, and much less likely to ever surrender the integrated system.”

Pricing at the time of introduction is $299 (MSRP) for the C100 HomeSet Automation Hub and smartphone app. The R100 HomeSet Remote Control is available for $299 (MSRP) and is designed to serve as an accessory for the bedroom and TV room.

“HomeSet adds the ‘cool factor’ of home entertainment control to security installations, which increases customer engagement and potentially reduces attrition,” Sienkiewicz said.
