The Nuvola NP-1 4K streaming media player has embedded the OUYA platform, bringing more gaming content to the device.NanoTech Entertainment has signed a worldwide software agreement with OUYA, that enables NanoTech’s Nuvola NP-1 4K Ultra HD streaming media player to have OUYA embedded and featured in the Nuvola user experience. As part of the new OUYA Everywhere initiative, which aims to bring OUYA content to new platforms, the agreement allows NP-1 users to access hundreds of games, with more added each month.

Powered by NVIDIA Tegra 4 processors and compatible with the OUYA wireless controller, the Nuvola NP-1 delivers OUYA’s titles into the living room, giving users a gaming experience created for large-screen TVs, and further expanding exposure to independent developers via the open platform.

“During our first year, we’ve worked with emerging and established game developers to bring OUYA users a huge offering of original content,” said Julie Uhrman, CEO and founder of OUYA. “Our OUYA Everywhere initiative is about expanding beyond our hardware to bring these titles into as many living rooms as possible. NanoTech is exactly the kind of partner we like working with, and we can’t wait to introduce our games to NP-1 users.”

In addition to being able to play OUYA-exclusive games, the Nuvola NP-1 can decode 4K content, as well as HD, SD, and 3D movies. It can also stream content from a variety of sources, including the bundled UltraFlix UHD channel, featuring over 100 hours of UHD content.

“OUYA is well-known as an innovator in the TV gaming space,” said NanoTech’s executive vice president of sales and marketing, Aaron Taylor. “We’re excited about the NP-1 opening up a whole new world of gaming for our customers. One of the key features we know our NP-1 users will enjoy is that they can try out hundreds of titles for free before deciding if they want to buy them.”

Both the OUYA platform and the Nuvola NP-1 are based on Google’s Android operating system. Both companies are focused on content designed for television playback. NP-1 users that have an OUYA game controller will be able to connect up to four controllers to enjoy multiplayer games.
