Thinking About Becoming an Energy Auditor?

Next week I’ll be introducing Dallas Jones from the Home Energy Institute who will moderate CEDIA’s Power Hour webinar about how ESCs can find new business by offering and conducting home energy audits.

With energy management services growing at a rapid pace, performing an energy audit is a great way to educate clients on how your company’s services can help reduce energy consumption.

A home energy audit is a complete, in-depth analysis of a home's energy efficiency. During this procedure, a certified professional home energy auditor uses equipment to analyze how energy is being used and where energy loss is occurring.

By conducting an energy audit, the auditor is able to identify ways to either stop or reduce energy loss. Minimizing or eliminating energy loss altogether could result in dramatic savings to a homeowner’s energy bills.

Once the audit is completed, the homeowner will receive a detailed report of the results. The report will highlight any problems and include the auditor's recommendations on what action needs to be taken to improve energy efficiency. A normal home energy audit takes about three hours to complete.

Learn more about energy audits by attending CEDIA Power Hour webinar on the topic at noon on Thursday, March 11. Find out whether you should become a certified energy auditor and how to sue energy auditing as a sales method and new revenue stream.
