Microsoft Ups Its Game with Xbox One X

Even though E3 doesn’t officially open until Tuesday, Microsoft kicked off the news on Sunday afternoon with the official announcement of Xbox One X. Previously known as “Project Scorpio,” the details revealed at USC’s Gallen Center confirmed many rumors and added a bit of additional information.

Xbox introduces the One X

Available worldwide on November 7, at $499, Xbox One X will deliver native 4K rendering at up to 60fps, as well as HDR-10 and Dolby Atmos compatibility. As with the current Xbox One S, there is an UltraHD Blu-ray player, three USB 3.0 ports, and an HDMI input.

No mention was made of streaming services, but more than 40 games were announced, with 22 being Xbox platform exclusive. Also flying in the face of pre-show rumors, there was no mention of any gaming or compatibility with VR or AR.

Residential Systems will cover the full story on the Xbox One X after seeing the product in person on Tuesday.
