CEDIA 2016 attendance topped 18,750 attendees this year. The 2016 show, hosted in Dallas, was an energized showcase of big thinking that included more than 500 exhibitors (more than 100 of whom exhibiting for the first time), 115 CEDIA training sessions, 13 CEDIA Talks, six free CEDIA Panel Sessions, and several events that provided attendees an opportunity to think big for the future of their business.

2016 exhibitors also picked up on the positive outlook of the industry and saw CEDIA 2016 as an important and necessary connection point to talk with their stakeholders, ask for feedback on new offerings, and build new relationships.

Shelly Palmer, president and CEO of Palmer Advanced Media, delivered CEDIA’s opening keynote. In his address, Palmer touched on major themes of the future of technology, such as the ever increasing velocity of data and machine learning, while pinpointing the vast opportunities for CEDIA professionals as trends like IoT multiply the number of connected devices in homes.

Highlights from CEDIA 2016 included the presentation of the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award to Chang K. Park of URC, the opening keynote presented by Shelly Palmer, the CEDIA celebration honoring the 2016 home technology professional award winners, the unveiling of CEDIA research findings and Houzz consumer research findings, and the Friday morning keynote presented by Amazon director of Alexa smart home, Charlie Kindel.

LG’s Tim Alessi unveiled the company’s largest-ever 4K UHD OLED display, the 77-inch 77G6. Featuring Dolby Vision HDR, and WebOS 3.0, the display is planned to retail for $19,999.Jim Garrett, director of marketing and product management, Harman, sitting with the Revel XC Landscape Series outdoor loudspeakers. The line includes a compact satellite, bollard satellite, and a burial subwoofer for a wide range of flexible installation applications.
