The last day of CEDIA 2012 starts very early for the Women in CE. Their annual breakfast (which was sold-out) began promptly at 7:30 a.m. This was my first experience with these lovely ladies and I must say, they're nice! (I'm sure you've never noticed this before but woman in business can be bit 'catty') Helen Heneveld was honored as volunteer of the year. If you don't know this woman, she is a powerhouse in the industry. Big congratulations to her!

On my ongoing search for iOS ecosystem solutions: URC is showing off their new iOS interface that complements their line of already very successful universal remote controllers — touchscreen or handheld buttons —now you can have them both!

Wireless is the buzzword for audio this year. Everyone is coming out with product lines that operate wirelessly and I was lucky enough to find quite a few winning ideas while making my rounds at CEDIA. The following brands really caught my attention and are definitely worth checking out.

My feet hurt. My eyes are bloodshot and I am loving life. Imagine if we were accountants (no offense, accountants). How boring would our conferences be? WE get to go to a conference where we listen to great audio, watch unbelievable video, and experience technology that doesn't exist. There is so much to absorb here and there is a direct difference between the companies that believe in our foggy future and those who are here because it is their job. Today I was lucky enough start the day with some great companies. First up: Yamaha.

Crestron further expanded its selection of architectural speakers, launched its first line of motorized shade and drapery systems, and unveiled new programming capabilities to simplify the programming of home-control systems. The company also said it has simplified the process of programming its multiroom-audio systems to more easily add an AirPlay-enabled Apple Airport Express as a system input.

We and our customers love the idea of a projector and screen for everyday viewing - a huge picture, the wow factor, and the ability to retract the the screen when not in use. But we often end up with a large flat panel for practical purposes — cost, too much light in the room, etc. Yesterday I was blown away by the performance of the new Screen Innovations Black Diamond Motorized retractable screen.
