Luxul Ships Epic 5 High-Performance Gigabit Router

Luxul is now shipping its Epic 5 router.

Luxul is now shipping its Epic 5 router. While the Epic 4 released earlier this year is designed to offer a 600-plus Mbps WAN-to-LAN performance, the new Epic 5 supports gigabit WAN to LAN (900-plus Mbps) speeds for those customers with access to gigabit service, or for future-proofing for when the local ISP does offer gigabit service. The Epic 5 also features dual-WAN capability with load-balancing and failover control, advanced security and remote access features, and a console port for local configuration.

In addition to being commercial-grade routers, the Epic series offers a platform for optimizing the user experience in smart homes, workplaces, retail establishments, and more. This experience is delivered through Luxul and third-party applications running on the Epic platform, the first of which is enhanced content filtering from Router Limits. Additional applications including Domotz remote network monitoring are planned for future development.

“The Epic family is the first router designed as a platform to help custom installers deliver advanced services to their customers,” said Luxul CEO, Jeffrey Curtis. “Our partnerships with Domotz, Router Limits, and others help us give integrators the tools they need—both to serve their customers better as well as to add revenue to their bottom line. We’re excited to bring another great product to market that helps our dealers deliver a superior user experience and exceed customer expectations.”

Epic 5 routers are now shipping, while Epic 4 models were available from authorized distributors in March.

Luxul has been part of Legrand, North America since Legrand acquired the company in 2016.
