Control4 System Assuages Homeowner’s Fears During Wildfire

I’m always fascinated by out-of-the-box applications for home control systems. One such example comes from a Colorado homeowner that used a Control4 system to monitor his home in the path of a Colorado wildfire, one of several that has left a wide swath of destruction across the Rocky Mountains this summer.

These pictures of the High Park Fire in Colorado were taken by the Colorado National Guard. You can see more of them here.
“The Control4 system has been invaluable during the High Park Fire. Not only have I been able to ease my own fears, but those of neighbors and relatives. I have been able to see work the firefighters did on my property and verify the temperature in the house, in addition to verifying that our house is standing and secure,” Ron Ames told his Control4 dealer, Lenard Gale of ImagineMore/Northern Lights

“Being able to check on things in Colorado when I’m in a meeting in Milwaukee is priceless,” he stated.

Ames’ home is outfitted with more than 20 different Control4 products, including HC-200 and HC-800 controllers, SR-250 remotes, 4-Sight software, a MyHome Site License, and Kwikset locks.

ImagineMore/Northern Lights is based in Greeley, CO, and in addition to home theater systems, specializes in custom lighting, as well as other luxury home products. The dealer serves northern Colorado, the Denver metro area, and also Cheyenne and Laramie, WY.

The High Park fire singed more than 87,000 acres, according to statistics cited in the Denver Post and over $38.5 million worth of homes were destroyed, according to the Larimer County Assessor’s Office, as reported by the Fort Collins Coloradoan.

While its unfortunate that it took a terrifying and destructive natural disaster to uncover this unconventional success story, it serves as a vivid reminder that AV systems achieve much more than entertainment.

What a great story. This story can hold true for all automation systems not just control 4.
