This year’s “future home” will react and interact with the user, taking the smart home one step further by introducing CEDIA EXPO attendees to what is being dubbed the “intuitive home.” The pavilion will be divided into four distinct areas: eat, work, play, and health. Here are some illustrated renderings of what the exhibit will feature:

An arial view of the entire Future Technology Pavilion reveals the space dedicated to each area.

CEDIA will provide tours of the Pavilion during CEDIA EXPO tradeshow hours in Indianapolis, Thursday September 6 and Friday September 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday September 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Registration for CEDIA EXPO 2012 is open at www.cedia.org/expo.

The “play” area of the Future Technology Pavilion will feature a fully immersive video room brought to life by Audio Design Associates, Auralex Acoustics, Digital Projection, Purdue University, Stewart Filmscreen, and Triad.

The “work” area of the Future Technology Pavilion will showcase the ultimate virtual office, combining all the comforts of home while having the experience of a true office environment.

The gym of the Future Technology Pavilion is an intuitive experience room that identifies when a person has entered the room and creates a customized environment conducive to working out.

Mosaiqq and 3M will showcase an embedded touchscreen video wall that doubles as a kitchen backsplash. The dining area will be equipped with mood settings, featuring altered lighting and voice-controlled sounds.

The bedroom is designed to assist a person in the later stages of their life with various built-in sensors that make require very little to make the room operate. The room is also filled with necessary health equipment to track long-term vitals.

In addition to the immersive video room, the “play” area will feature an entertainment room that can identify the occupant, react to their likes and dislikes, and display the appropriate content for that user.

Obscura Digital will also be a part of the “play” area of the Pavilion, showcasing the latest technology-enhanced pool table.
