My Top 5 CEDIA Must-Sees

I can’t believe that CEDIA is only a few weeks away! I’ve been taking some time this weekend to think over what I really want to accomplish and check out this year and that has let to my Top 5 Must-See items for CEDIA EXPO 2014:

1. Crestron. No surprise here, as I have been touting Crestron all year long. This year, the rumor mill is rife with noise about Crestron showing an easy-to-program system that will be at a more attainable entry point for middle-market customers. I assume it will be wizard-based and somewhat scalable and easy to integrate with a full-on Crestron system to give clients a path to growth.

2. Screen Innovations. They always have something that will blow your mind, from Black Diamond a few years ago, to Tiles last year, I’m sure they will be showing something visually stunning this year and can’t wait to see it.

3. Pakedge. This networking company has been taking their message to the AV community. With the full push of Bakpak last year, which allows integrators to see into a client’s network remotely and reboot components. I can’t wait to see what new app based toys they are introducing this year.

4. Paradigm. My favorite speaker company. Rumor has it that Paradigm will be introducing a new upscale speaker line, possibly even more high end their current Signature Series, which has floorstanding towers that retail for $4,500 each and a $10,000 subwoofer. The sound from the Signature Series speakers blows me away, so I can’t even imagine what a higher end speaker from Paradigm will sound like.

5. Kaleidescape. With a brand like Kaleidescape, content is king. They have promised some big announcements at CEDIA, and I am expecting 4K content and better options for downloaded and streaming. Additionally, there has been some chatter about a machine for under $1,000. That would open the brand, and media servers in general, to an entirely new audience. While that isn’t typically the audience that my integration company serves, more awareness and deeper penetration can only help grow the category.

I’m sure I’ll also spend some time checking out projectors from Digital Projection and Wolf, receivers and amps from Anthem and racks from Middle Atlantic, too. There much to see at CEDIA, and I’ve only scratched the surface. What is top of your list to see at CEDIA 2014?

I've got another one for you to add to the list Todd. You have to make it by The Finest Brands booth# 1200. Guaranteed to be the talk of the show.
