Core Brands Replaces VP Starkey with Newcomer Roberts

Core Brands, the subsidiary of Nortek Inc., has hired tech industry veteran Joe Roberts to replace Paul Starkey as VP of products and marketing. Roberts brings nearly 20 years of experience in building consumer technology products, marketing across global channels and managing a range of business disciplines, according to the company.

Paul Starkey served as Core Brands chief marketing officer from June 2012 to September 2013.

“We are pleased to add Joe’s significant experience in product strategy, marketing and business scaling to our team,” said Bill Pollock, president of Core Brands. “Joe brings an exciting track-record of best-in-class product delivery with aggressive time-to-market and a multi-channel approach.”

Pollock noted that Roberts’ expertise in software, cloud solutions, and “connecting product strategies to the company’s vision” is a good fit for Core Brands.”

Prior to his position at Core Brands, Roberts held executive-level, general management, and senior marketing positions at companies including The Learning Company, Broderbund, Corel, eLanguage, and others.

Roberts replaces industry veteran Paul Starkey, who was part of the ELAN Home Systems management team that sold to Nortek. After serving as executive VP, he was promoted to president of the brand when it was part of the AVC Group. When that group was re-named as Core Brands, Starkey became chief marketing officer of 10 brands.

“We are grateful for Paul’s dedicated service and wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” Pollock said.
