Perhaps it's a trivial point, but do you think that the media server brand, Sooloos, will actually remain now that its founder has been named CEO of Meridian America (the high-end brand that acquired Sooloos at the end of 200 ? I can't help but thinking that Meridian really just wanted to the technology behind the brand, and that the Sooloos name is too unknown to remain. What do you think? Here's the news item, to jog your thinking: Meridian has appointed Peter Wellikoff as the CEO of Meridian America, effective immediately. Wellikoff formerly served as COO of media server company Sooloos, which was recently acquired by Meridian. Wellikoff will report directly to Meridian Group CEO Tim Ireland.
“Since the acquisition of Sooloos in December, we’ve been working very hard to ensure that we operate effectively as the transition progresses,” Ireland said. “Peter’s appointment is a logical next step for the integration of the two companies. His 30-plus years of experience, coupled with his extensive knowledge of the North American luxury market, make him an incredible asset to Meridian. As we expand Meridian into new areas of opportunities globally, we’re confident that, under Peter’s direction, the U.S. market will continue to prosper.”
Wellikoff said of his appointment, “I’m pleased to join the strong executive team that Meridian has assembled here in the States. We will continue to work together as we have over the past few months, concentrating efforts on our dealers, providing them with technologically superior products and services that propel them ahead of their competition. It’s an exciting time for Meridian, and I’m thrilled with the opportunity to make an impact at this critical juncture.”
Wellikoff will be based out of the former Sooloos offices in the SoHo district of New York City, which will now become Meridian’s U.S. headquarters.
