G2i Brings Solar Energy Services to the Custom Install Channel

Last month at CEDIA EXPO, premium smart home service provider G2i announced its strategic partnership with SunEdison, a leading global solar technology manufacturer and service provider, presenting a solar energy system “Path to Partnership,” a commission-based sales and installation platform for the custom integration channel.

G2i’s deal with SunEdison creates new opportunities in solar panel sales and installation for integrators. Last month at CEDIA EXPO, premium smart home service provider G2i announced its strategic partnership with SunEdison, a leading global solar technology manufacturer and service provider, presenting a solar energy system “Path to Partnership,” a commission-based sales and installation platform for the custom integration channel.

This new referral program has been designed to allow integrators of all types–from single-operators, to full-service integration providers–to sell and install premium smart home solutions with integrated solar energy systems to their customers.

CEDIA members are invited to participate in the program by moving through a series of stages. Tier 1 Referral Partners, such as real estate agents and AV integrators, will refer business to G2i and get paid when their referral customer purchases a package. Tier 2 Certified Sales Partners become an autonomous sales agent selling G2i automation and security with SunEdison solar packages. This is intended for sales teams that do not want to handle installation and support. Tier 3 requires G2i membership with an exclusive geographical territory. Tier 3 participants sell and install G2i automation and security packages with SunEdison solar packages and generate monthly recurring revenue per customer. This tier is designed for integrators looking for a new business opportunity focused on recurring revenue. Tier 3+ includes G2i membership with SunEdison Installer Certification and adds the ability to install SunEdison solar in an exclusive G2i territory.

Tier 1 participants will submit a brief customer interest and data form to G2i, at which point Tier 2 participants will take that lead through a proposal and closed sale, then handing off the customer to Tier 3 and 3+ for installation and ongoing services.

“As G2i continues to push into the frontier of the sustainable smart home, we are proud to welcome SunEdison as a keystone partner in our vision for the future,” said G2i CEO Reed Stevens. “The G2i Path to Partnership offers customers a break-through sustainable smart home solution, as well as a business platform that fosters the collaboration of adjacent professionals in the consumer environment.”

Through the new partnership, G2i subscribers will be able to manage not only their electricity usage, but also the savings they experience with a solar-powered home.

“We’re working to empower the CEDIA community to talk about solar,” said SunEdison’s Debbie Schreider.

“We’re not here to do what’s comfortable. We’re here to do what’s next,” Stevens added.

G2i Also Adds Limmex and Netgear

During CEDIA EXPO, G2i also said it would offer the new Netgear ASG1000 Home Security Gateway (G2i BS-2) and the STS 7000 Android security touch screen (G2i TS -2), as well as the Swiss-made Limmex AG Emergency Watch.

During a CEDIA press conference G2i’s Jeff Zemanek displays his Limmex watch, while G2i CEO Reed Stevens and SunEdison’s Todd Michaels look on. Both the BS-2 and the TS -2 have been developed for the iControl OpenHome Connect system, which powers G2i’s connected home offering. The BS-2 is 802.11n WiFi and Z-Wave certified, providing complete connectivity between all of G2i’s devices, including light switches, video cameras, automatic door locks, thermostats, and security sensors.

While the Emergency Watch looks like a sleek, sophisticated wristwatch, the device hides inside of it a completely integrated mobile phone. With the push of a button the watch calls up family members and/ or friends according to a stored list of numbers. The watch keeps calling the numbers in sequential order until the call is answered. Once the call is picked up, the wearer can talk to the person on the other end via a 2-way voice speaker system.

G2i believes that the watch adds a new dimension to its security offerings and enriches the customer’s peace of mind both in and out of the home.
