Russound Ships New Multichannel Amps

The new amps are designed to deliver smooth reliable power and easily scalable zones while offering Class D advantages.

Russound is now shipping two new digital multichannel amplifiers—the D850 and D1650—both of which deliver smooth reliable power and easily scalable zones while offering Class D advantages including decreased heat, lower energy consumption, and a more compact size to suit a variety of installation scenarios.

“The new amplifiers are part of an ongoing torrent of high-value products that reflect input from our custom installer partners, with attention paid to how they will solve a variety of needs and challenges in the field,” said Charlie Porritt, CEO, Russound. “Our new amps, in particular, were designed so that they could easily fit into any number of installations where weight, size, connectivity, functionality, and reliability are equal priorities.”

Russound’s new D850 digital multichannel amplifier (SRP: $1,250) is outfitted with an array of features to simplify installations. These include auto sensing line inputs, bridged outputs, independent zone triggering inputs and outputs, bus audio input, individual left and right channel volume trim controls per zone, and individual turn-off time delays per zone to accommodate a range of configurations.

The D850 model’s lighter weight, smaller chassis and highly efficient Class D power is ideal for up to eight channels arranged in stereo pairs, powering up to four zones of distributed audio. Rated at 50 watts per channel into eight ohms (80 watts per channel into four ohms), the D850 features a versatile bridged output that combines both channels in any zone into a single, higher powered output, delivering 160 watts of power into an eight-ohm load. Russound’s resilient protection circuit maintains safe and dependable operation in maximum performance conditions.

For even greater zone coverage and scalability from one compact and lightweight unit, Russound’s D1650 digital multichannel amplifier’s 16 channels are arranged in stereo pairs, powering eight discrete zones/rooms. Also loaded with adaptable features including auto sensing inputs, independent zone triggering, a bus input, and multiple outputs per zone, the D1650 (SRP: $1,679.00) is rated at 50 watts per channel into eight ohms, and 80 watts per channel into four ohms. In bridged mode, both channels in any zone feature robust output delivering 160 watts of power into an eight-ohm load.
