Sonance Adds IS4 C Speakers to Invisible Series

By RS Staff January 3,2013

Sonance is now shipping its new IS4 C, 70V/100V invisible speaker. The IS4 C joins the family of next-generation Invisible Series.

Todd Ryan, chief speaker designer for Sonance, describes the speaker as "the new reference in performance and installation flexibility for invisible loudspeakers."

According to the company, the speakers retain a high performance level across a wide range of installation techniques. Any flexible material of 1/8-inches (3mm) or less can be used, including; topping compound, wallpaper or plaster can be applied across the front surface of the speaker without compromising the fidelity of the speakers.

The other major accomplishment is a sensitivity of 90dB (1W/1 meter) for the IS4 C, IS4, IS4 SST and ISW, allowing them to deliver much higher sound pressure levels than previously possible with invisible loudspeakers.

The IS4 C brings these benefits to the commercial market, making it an ideal solution to deliver high sonic performance with zero visual intrusion in installations such as airports, hotels, boardrooms, cruise ships, casinos, convention centers, restaurants, offices, houses of worship and retail stores, according to Sonance.

The IS4 C incorporates a polypropylene diaphragm that provides distinct woofer, midrange and tweeter radiation areas to ensure superior-quality sound in foreground music, public address and paging applications. The IS4 C features wide dispersion (140° conical) allowing larger areas to be adequately covered by fewer speakers.

An integrated steel enclosure provides up to 20dB of noise reduction on the back of the speaker. The IS4 C frame is constructed from extruded aluminum. Connection is made via a barrier strip that is covered with a steel plate that features a connection point for 3/4-inch conduit.
