D-Tools Reveals Design Award Winners and Finalists

D-Tools has announced the winners and finalists for its annual 2016 D-Tools Design Awards.

D-Tools has announced the winners and finalists for its annual 2016 D-Tools Design Awards. Showcasing the best project designs and greatest success stories of the D-Tools System Integrator software platform, the contest was sponsored by Manufacturer Vantage Point Program partners Atlona, Autonomic, Avenview, IC Realtime, Kramer, KanexPro, KEF, Leon Speakers, and LILIN.

The D-Tools Design Awards winners and finalists are selected from a diverse group of D-Tools user projects and include categories for best residential, best commercial, most unique, and best overall. The winning entries were chosen by D-Tools product team members and select certified partners, and were judged on a number of criteria; originality, overall system design, depth and breadth of D-Tools’ software usage, as well as demonstrated proficiency with the platform.

Best Commercial:

Atea – Higher Ed Campus Project – Submitted by Peter Mejer

Project overview: AV and IT installation for Denmark connected campus including three auditoriums, three gyms, one cantina, one atrium, two drama halls, one dance hall, and one student café.

Honorable Mention, Commercial:

AVIO – Sports Bar Project – Submitted by Nathan Haynes

Project overview: AV construction for Vancouver’s premier sports bar location. The facility overlooks the arena bowl and incorporates house feeds and local feeds in audio and video. A high-end DJ setup also lets the DJ manage content throughout the space in real time.

Best Residential:

Controltech – Home Automation Project – Submitted by Juan Clement

Project overview: Automation of house including lighting, six zones of audio, five TV zones and preparation for two more, irrigation control, CCTV, security system, touchscreens, video doorbell, and access control.

Honorable Mention, Residential:

Homeplay Ltd and Draw4 – London Townhouse Project – Submitted by James Ratcliffe and James Owens

Project overview: Renovation of a four-bedroom townhouse with a complete installation overhaul of AV, control, and security systems.

Most Unique:

Residential Media Systems – Custom Home Project – Submitted by Zach Boyd

Project overview: Custom home project for a family preparing to relocate contained 21 zones of audio, seven of which paired with centralized video, exterior lighting control and cameras, and motorized shades to soften some very large south-facing windows.

Best Overall:

Hausba Smarthomes – Whole Home Automation Project – Submitted by Chibuzo Nwankpo

Project overview: Full automation project comprising whole house AV, smart lighting, IP surveillance, and a dedicated home cinema room.
