GoldenEar Dual-Plane SuperSub XXL Subwoofer to Ship in August

GoldenEar’s new SuperSub high-performance, compact subwoofers incorporate a patent-pending driver and sub-bass radiator topology

GoldenEar’s new SuperSub high-performance, compact subwoofers incorporate a patent-pending driver and sub-bass radiator topology, combined with an advanced electronics package to deliver precise low-frequency performance that is both powerful and musical.

 The SuperSub XXL

The enclosure of the XXL is constructed of very thick, high-density medite, which is finished in high-gloss piano black lacquer. The enclosure is made with a patent-pending combination of two fully inertially balanced, 12-inch long-throw active drivers in the horizontal plane, and two fully inertially balanced 12 ¾-inch-by-14 ½-inch planar infrasonic radiators in the vertical plane. Force-cancelling inertial balancing preserves and focuses all the energy produced by the transducers in order to effectively move the air in the room, as well as enabling full recovery of the finest details, rather than allowing loss and blurring due to wasted box movement.

A 1600-watt class D amplifier drives the driver and radiator arrays, while a 56-bit DSP device with a 192 kHz sample rate control the unit. Advanced reconstruction filters are utilized in order to maximize damping factor.

GoldenEar founder Sandy Gross says that his company rates the SuperSub XXL with an overall response of 10Hz to 200Hz. “We don’t specify plus and minus limits because it varies tremendously depending on measurement technique,” he stated.

The SuperSub XXL will be available in August 2015.
