Roku Announces Black Friday Pricing, Funai Partnership

Moving past November’s mid-point, it is typically retailers that are setting Black Friday pricing, but today it is a supplier’s turn. From Wednesday, November 22, at 9:01PM PST through to midnight PST on Monday, November 27, the Roku Streaming Stick+ will carry an MSRP of $49.99.

This is a $20 discount from the regular $69.99 price set when the unit was first available in early October. At the promo price, it becomes the least expensive 4K/UHD streamer product on the market, making it an attractive add-on to 4K/UHD set sales.

It’s unique Wi-Fi antenna circuit embedded in the connection cable is said to improve wireless reception, particularly given the “behind the set” installation location.

Also during Black Friday weekend, the Roku Express+, available exclusively through Walmart, will see rollback price discounts.

As a further incentive, with the purchase of any Roku player product or Roku TV consumers will receive a free month of DIRECTV NOW service with a new subscription.

Roku also announced today that Funai Electric will offer smart TVs this year that run the Roku OS under the Philips brand. The new Roku TV models from Philips will join the list that already includes models from Element, Hiesnse, Hitachi, Insignia, RCA, Sharp, and TCL.
