The Home Technology Specialists of America (HTSA) has appointed Leon Shaw, an accomplished industry veteran and current vice president of the HTSA Board of Directors, to the role as president in 2015.

Leon Shaw

As a longtime home technology specialist, with deep roots in the audio marketplace, Shaw brings an incredible wealth of knowledge, expertise, and creativity to the HTSA Board, which he will continue to deliver and execute on with his newfound leadership role. Shaw launched Audio Advice, the leading provider of home theater, home automation and specialty electronics in North Carolina, in 1978. Over the last 36 years, Shaw has evolved his brand and business from a stereo retailer to a premium resource boasting first-class technology solutions including high performance audio, home control, shading, lighting control, home security, and networking. Additionally, Shaw has carved out a unique niche, catering to the audiophile, by offering a variety of high-fidelity audio products and services including computer audio, turntables, and vinyl accessories, headphones, cabling, power sources and more.

“This is an exciting day for HTSA – for our Board, Members and Vendors,” said Bob Hana, HTSA managing director. “Leon’s dedication and decades of experience serving the residential technology community has not gone unnoticed. His enthusiasm and guidance have been an influential force since he first joined the Board of Directors. Leon has developed deep relationships with the rest of the Board, our membership and with HTSA Vendor partners, allowing him to add real value to conversations, strategies and evolving organization initiatives. We couldn’t be happier to see Leon stepping into this new role.”

Shaw’s 2015 appointment will not be the first time that he has lead the buying group. Shaw has been a member of the HTSA Board of Directors since 2006 and served as the board President in 2010.

“It’s been a pleasure serving as a member of the HTSA Board of Directors. I am looking forward to continuing to serve as president at the start of 2015,” Shaw added. “HTSA is comprised of true talent, knowledge, and experience. Together as an organization we are helping to increase awareness for home technology as well as empowering the skilled professionals who make up this network. I’m eager to see what this next year will bring.”

The promotion of Shaw also marks a changing of the guard as the current HTSA president of the board, Joe Barrett, will hand over the reins this coming January. Barrett has served the HSTA Membership well, helping to push key initiatives forward, providing endless education opportunities, and encouraging both Members and Vendors to collaborate well and often. His service is greatly commended and the organization looks forward to having both he and members of Barrett’s Technology Solutions as constant contributors over the coming years.
