Custom home entertainment and control systems contractor Room Service Home Technologies received the annual WELDer of the Year award from WELD2, of Bellevue, WA. WELD2 bestows the award on the firm they feel exemplifies excellence in the custom electronics installation industry.

WELD2 Co-Founder and President, Barry Scovel, made the short trip down I-5 from the company’s Bellevue, WA, headquarters to personally present the award to Portland’s Room Service HT General Manager Jeff Kill and CMO Ann Allen.

WELD2 is the brainchild of a few long-time consumer electronics industry veterans, including Scovel and 2014 CEDIA Lifetime Achievement Award winner Frank White. The company helps custom electronics installation firms around North America grow profitable relationships with their existing customers by delivering persistent, consistent, and intelligent contact. As longtime industry insiders, their team set out to solve a problem they’d seen their industry often wrestle with: Small contracting firms have precious little time to market the number one brand they sell: themselves.

Founded in 1993 by company president George Veile, Portland-based Room Service Home Technologies specializes in custom designed and engineered home cinema systems, whole-house music and video systems, lighting control, and home automation.

Scovel said RSHT’s service length in a comparatively young industry speaks volumes and goes to the core of why his company decided on them as this year’s award winner. “It’s wonderful finding a company so dedicated to what they do. It’s exactly the kind of business we love to work with. Their mission statement—to provide our customers maximum value by understanding, then exceeding their expectation while delivering the best customer service possible—really sums it up.”

Allen shared, “Personally, I think it’s the best marketing effort we have going for us. WELD2 came to us at a perfect time; we were brainstorming ways to stay in front of our clients (of 20 years) in a relevant manner without getting techie and coming across like a standard industry blog. WELD has exceeded our expectations in many ways. They take our industry’s headlining technology buzzwords and boil it down into a light, easy-to-read and fun article that helps our clients understand all the technology they must have.”

WELD2 and Room Service HT have worked together since soon after WELD2’s mid-2013 launch.
