Audio Design Merges with k2 Dealer Services

By RS Staff November 21,2013

Audio Design, Inc., a provider of AV and Automation system design and documentation services to the custom integrator channel, has merged with k2 Dealer Services.

Curt Hayes.
Dave Kirn.

Both firms have long histories in the industry and the relationship aims to combine their mutual experiences providing outsourced design, best practices, standards and design processes to provide the highest quality design services available to dealers today.

Audio Design, Inc., founded in 2006 by Curt Hayes, provides outsourced design services and is now supported by a team with a combined 100+ years of direct industry experience. k2 Dealer Services was founded in 2007 by Dave Kirn. As a D-Tools Certified Partner, k2 developed unique capabilities in database management, report generation and consulting. Kirn will assume the role of president of a newly formed Dealer Services division, as well as director of the System Design Group.

“The primary goal of Audio Design from the outset has been to provide timely and accurate design and documentation for our clients,” said Curt Hayes, Audio Design’s president and founder. “By combining our operations with k2’s industry recognized dealer services and consulting capabilities, we will further expand and enhance our ability to provide unparalleled support for our mutual clients.”

Hayes continued, “The feedback we’ve received from our clients is the desire to have a predictable design expense for their projects. Our pricing model ensures that our dealers can mark up our design fees and include them in their proposals as a profit source. Our aim is to provide a high quality service that allows our dealers to be more efficient and profitable. By outsourcing system design activities, existing staff can focus on the vital activities of sales, project management, installation and programming. I have the utmost respect for Dave Kirn and am impressed with the work he has accomplished with k2. I am confident that our clients will appreciate the experience, professionalism and added capabilities he brings to our operations.”

“It is very exciting to be a part of the Audio Design team," said Dave Kirn, president and founder of k2 Dealer Services. "When I first met Curt a few years ago I was very impressed with the caliber of the work that Audio Design provided to their clients, as well as their ‘client first’ mentality. When the conversation of merging our two companies together first started, I realized that it was the opportunity to create a company that would be a true asset to any integration company.  The comment that became the drive for this new venture was ‘create a solution for integrators that would be exactly what they would setup themselves if they were building the perfect design division in-house.’ That has become our mantra, and has been the building block of all of the plans that we have made and are continuing to make.”

Kirn continued, “With the ever increasing rate that technology is developing, new products and solutions are arriving every week and integrators need to have a trusted partner that they can count on for timely and accurate system designs. Audio Design, now more than ever, is that trusted partner.”
