Coopersburg, PA, USA -- Lutron's Vierti dimmer has won a Red Dot Design Award, a prestigious international competition that honors high quality and innovative design.

Vierti is a wall-mounted dimmer with a distinctive look and operation. A single vertical line of touch-sensitive LEDs in the center of the wallplate is designed to allow the user to set the perfect light with just a single touch or slide of the finger. In winning the Red Dot award, Vierti was selected from over 3,000 entries from 49 countries in the product design category of the international Red Dot design competition. Entries were judged on a variety of criteria, including degree of innovation, functionality and ergonomics. In winning the category, Lutron joins other product design innovators like Apple, Sony, Mercedes-Benz, and Aston Martin.

The Red Dot design competition is one of the largest and most renowned design competitions in the world. Since 1955, it has been staged by The Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany. Competition winners are displayed in the organization's Red Dot Design Museum, also located in Essen. With one of the world's largest permanent exhibitions of contemporary design, the museum attracts 120,000 visitors a year.
