URC Adds Remote Apple Device Control for Total Control

URC has introduced Remote Access, a new feature available for the Total Control Mobile app.

URC has introduced Remote Access, a new feature available for the Total Control Mobile app.

The feature allows users to control AV equipment, adjust lighting, view security cameras and control other devices in their home or business from any location where they can connect to the internet with their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch via 3G, 4G or Wi-Fi.

“Imagine sitting in your favorite coffee shop and fine tuning the temperature in your home for energy savings, viewing the security cameras in your summer cottage or making sure the TV is off in your downtown office—all from your iPhone,” said Cat Toomey, director of marketing at URC. “Our customers can virtually be in two places at once.”

Implementation requires a one-time set-up and handshake with the URC MRX-10 associated with the system. Access is securely password protected to insure privacy.

Owners of Total Control systems should contact their custom installation professional for more information. The Total Control Mobile app can be downloaded from the Apple iTunes App Store for free. Integration with the Total Control system MRX-10 requires set-up by a professional installer and can support an unlimited number of iDevices.

This new capability comes on the heels of URC’s recent announcement of Offsite Programming features for Total Control. Offsite Programming enables programmers to access customer installations from offsite, provide programming services and maintain clients’ systems from the shop (or virtually anywhere) without rolling a truck.
