Crabbe and Jensen are CEDIA’s Top Volunteers for 2013

CEDIA has named Lance Crabbe, from Design Systems Ltd., as its Home Technology Professional Volunteer of the Year and Bjorn Jensen, from WhyReboot, as its Associate Volunteer of the Year for 2013.

CEDIA has named Lance Crabbe, from Design Systems Ltd., as its Home Technology Professional Volunteer of the Year and Bjorn Jensen, from WhyReboot, as its Associate Volunteer of the Year for 2013. These awards recognize individuals who have exhibited outstanding, creative, innovative, and visionary leadership to the growth and advancement of CEDIA.

These distinguished volunteers will be honored at the annual Electronic Lifestyles Awards Celebration on Saturday, September 28 at CEDIA EXPO.

A founding member, Crabbe serves on the Hawaii Department of Health’s Hawaii Electronic Device Recycling Task Force. With more than 30 years of experience working in the residential electronic systems industry, he provided a valued perspective to the task force as a small business owner and independent retailer. Crabbe was a valuable and respected local voice on this important issue for CEDIA’s Hawaii-based members.

“Without Lance’s perspective and time, expanded electronic waste regulations and requirements would have been enacted, with a significant impact on the cost of doing business for home technology professionals in Hawaii,” said Darren Reaman, CEDIA director of public policy.

WhyReboot’s Jensen has spent many hours assisting with the development and revision of CEDIA’s advanced networking training courses. He also has worked with manufacturers on CEDIA’s behalf to procure products for the association to use during lab activities in the classroom. In addition to his work with the training department, he has also assisted in the marketing of CEDIA classes through blogs, videos, and articles for CEDIA as well as other industry publications.

“Bjorn was instrumental in the build-out and revision of both of our advanced networking courses. It would not have been possible to build these courses or the new Advanced Networking and Systems Integration Boot Camp without the content he was responsible for developing,” said Steve Rissi, CEDIA technical training manager.

Volunteers have always been a critical element of CEDIA’s success. More than 200 CEDIA volunteers dedicate their time, energy, and resources to the association year round.

All CEDIA volunteers are invited to the Volunteer Appreciation Reception during CEDIA EXPO. Volunteers interested in attending may contact Chelsey Wetzel, CEDIA member programs project manager at 800.669.5329.
