Excess Inventory Seller Invenshare Acquired by SupplyStream

SupplyStream, which touts itself as the “CE industry’s web-based product mega-catalog,” has acquired the inventory-sharing platform Invenshare, making Invenshare a tightly integrated feature of the SupplyStream platform and enabling Invenshare dealers to benefit from a single website to research products and manage purchasing.

Back in March 2013, Harrisburg, PA, integrator Josh Willits burst onto the custom install scene when he launched the first online marketplace to assist other integrators in trading or selling excess inventory to fellow dealers. This past September, another startup called SupplyStream was the talk of CEDIA when it launched its beta website cataloging more than 170,000 product SKUs daily for easier product purchasing from a single web portal. Today, those two companies are combining their efforts.

SupplyStream’s catalog, which was two years in the making, allows dealers to quickly and easily create, send, and manage purchase orders to their distributors and direct manufacturers. The cloud-based service allows resellers to search distributor inventory and create purchase orders from a single location. Two thousand dealers have already signed up for the ability to research products and place orders from a single web portal.

“We are always looking to add features that leverage our product catalog and make dealers’ lives easier,” said SupplyStream CEO Kirk Chisholm. “When we met Josh last year at CEDIA, we knew he had built something our dealers would love. It’s a perfect match, since we already have the tools in place that allow vendors to control which products dealers are authorized to share.”

When Willits created Invenshare, he was looking for a way to solve the problem of stale inventory on dealers’ shelves, as well as the difficulty finding discontinued items. The result was a private web marketplace that connects dealers’ excess inventory in the cloud. Member dealers can easily and quickly add excess and unwanted inventory into the system. With thousands of new and used products available in inventory, Invenshare helps dealers get what they need and get rid of what they don’t.

“That pile of old remotes sitting in my warehouse drove me crazy, especially knowing that another dealer was probably out there, calling his rep, looking for one as a customer replacement” Willits said. “Invenshare has been extremely well received in the industry, and we’ve experienced significant growth over the past year. When we looked at where we were going as a company, and the feature requests we’ve received so far, we recognized a strong alignment with

Josh Willits  SupplyStream. We’re thrilled to offer our dealers all the additional SupplyStream features as a part of their current Invenshare subscription.”

Willits will join SupplyStream as a VP of business development and will focus on strategic partnerships within the industry. Invenshare will be rolled into the SupplyStream feature set at no additional cost to current dealers. SupplyStream offers a $29/month subscription to dealers, with unlimited users for their companies. There is also a free version that allows dealers to test all of the features of the site.
