Top 10 Things to See at CEDIA 2010

CEDIA 2010 Heiss 01

#1: HDMI 1.4a Last year it was new and the task was to see who had it. This year, it will be almost everywhere when it comes to “heavy iron” products such as surround processors, Blu-ray players, displays, and AV receivers. Remembering that while not EVERY application requires all the new features, unless it is 1.4 from end-to-end, you lose the benefits of the new HDMI capabilities. Thus, the thing to look for this year is not “if” HDMI v.1.4a, but “where.” How many of the outlying ends of the connection path such as HDMI-to-Cat-5 or fiber adaptors and “HDMI over IP” solutions, HDMI Matrix switchers, and wireless solutions offer the latest and greatest in HDMI? That’s definitely something to look for. As a shameless bit of self-promotion, your humble author will once again be moderating the “HDMI Hot Seat” at EXPO, with a great panel of industry experts to add to your HDMI knowledge.
