Exploring KEF's New Concept Speaker

KEF 2

This is the industrial designer's version of porn. The cabinet is highly curved carbon fibre/balsa composite for extremely high stiffness. The speaker appears to have only a single point source, because side-firing bass units are positioned symmetrically around the Uni-Q driver. Ten-inch drivers in force canceling configuration reduce cabinet vibration. An outboard crossover is hard-wired with air-cored inductors and plastic-film capacitors. Damping material at the bottom of the cabinet remove standing waves, and gear adjustable spiked feet allow simple leveling without tilting the speaker.
