Dolby and VUDU Launch ‘Future Home Theater Experience’

Customers of Dolby Laboratories VUDU now have access to a catalog of Warner Bros. titles remastered for Dolby Vision and mixed in Dolby Atmos to complete the cinematic home theater experience.

Customers of Dolby Laboratories and VUDU now have access to a catalog of Warner Bros. titles remastered for Dolby Vision and mixed in Dolby Atmos to complete the cinematic home theater experience. Consumers with Dolby Vision-enabled televisions, like the VIZIO Reference Series, and with Dolby Atmos-enabled home theater products, can now enjoy a variety of next-generation entertainment content through VUDU.

Dolby Vision transforms the TV experience with dramatic imaging based on brightness, contrast, and color through high-dynamic-range (HDR) technologies that can deliver brighter highlights and more light-to-dark contrast compared to a standard picture, plus colors never seen before on TV. Dolby Atmos-enabled home theater products allow sound to move around the room in a three-dimensional way in order to create a more powerfully immersive and emotive soundscape and experience.

“Dolby is excited to bring Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos entertainment content to consumers,” said Curt Behlmer, SVP, content solutions and industry relations at Dolby Laboratories. “With this development, Dolby elevates and advances the movie-watching experience at home and provides people with the ability to enjoy movies with ultra-vivid colors, expanded contrast, and immersive sound.”

With the Dolby Vision-enabled VIZIO Reference Series 4K television and a Dolby Atmos-enabled sound bar or AVR and home theater system, consumers can stream movies from VUDU in both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.

“With our titles remastered in 4K Ultra HD with Dolby Vision and breathtaking sound quality in Dolby Atmos, we know that we are giving our customers a true-to-life film experience that engages them in a dramatically enhanced visual and audio experience,” said Jim Wuthrich, president, Americas at Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.

Scott Blanksteen, vice president of product at VUDU, said, “VUDU has always provided customers with the best digital home entertainment experience around. We were at the forefront of high-definition digital video with our HDX format, and now, by offering movies with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, we’re again giving customers the opportunity to be the first to enjoy a premium visual and audio experience.”
