Beaudry Brothers Design began doing residential installations in 2009 after extensive experience in theatrical lighting and professional displays such as LED walls and projection. How do you rate the AT-HD-V14SS?
I give the AT-HD-V14SS 1×4 HDMI splitter a 9.5. The only reason I knocked off the half-point is because it isn’t auto-sensing. I still have to adjust the switches on the unit for 3D or 1080i/p. Other than that it is incredibly easy to use and does everything we need it to do.
For what types of installations is it best suited?
The AT-HD-V14SS is great for any setting where you need two to four displays sharing one source. In a residential setting, for instance, it could be used to send video signals from a living room to a game room and pool area.
What is one feature of this product that stands out in your projects?
We absolutely love the product and all of Atlona’s HDMI over Cat5 extenders because of the simplicity and cost-effectiveness of running Cat5e/6a versus HDMI cables. The extenders save us time and money because they allow us to make signal runs that would otherwise be impossible with standard cable. Cat5e/6a are thin and flexible cables that give us the ability to route cables any way we need. Also, the cost of replacing a damaged HDMI cable is significantly higher than that of a CAT5e/6a cable.
What features would you like to see changed or added?
Automatic EDID learning on all Atlona products. Other than automatic EDID, we feel that Atlona makes very solid products. This is a company that gets video and gets installers.
