“I started Audio Video Specialists in 2003 in an effort to control my own future and be in an industry that I truly love,” said Dan Cochenour, who has been in the consumer electronics field in various positions since 1983. His firm specializes in whole house AV distribution with the aim of wowing his clients. He has been an ELAN Systems dealer for six years.
How do you rate the HR2?
9. The ergonomics are outstanding, the button layout is straightforward and it just plain works, and the programming is simple with the ELAN g! system.
For what types of installations is it best suited?
The HR2 remote works great as a zone controller in a whole-house system or even in a single-zone application. I have a project where the owners use nine HR2s to control the whole-house audio and video systems, and two more to control stand-alone surround systems. And they love it!
What is one feature of the HR2 that stands out in your projects?
The combined use of IR and Wi-Fi provides reliable instant connectivity to the other components. Most of my customers have commented that they love the form factor and the button layout makes it very easy to use.
What features would you like to see changed or added?
I haven’t noticed anything that I would change, but as always in this industry, I am sure that I will want something different tomorrow!
