Motivated by what he saw as a void between custom integration and the high level of customer service clients demand and deserve, Thad Forrester entered the industry in 2004. His company, in recognition of wanting to fill that void, provides residential technology integration and automation to its clients. He has been a Future Automation dealer since 2009.

How do you rate the PLI?
10. The fit and finish of the product is phenomenal, the controller integrates well with our AMX control system (as well as Crestron, Control4, etc.), the product looks great, and it just works. The client (wife) literally jumped up and down clapping when she saw it work the first time. Job well done.

For what types of installations is it best suited?
Any room where aesthetics are a primary concern, yet still need access to TV. As long as you have the space above the ceiling, you can conceal any size TV (our application happened to be a 60-inch Pioneer Elite), then lower it down when ready for viewing.

What is one feature of the PLI that stands out in your projects?
The way the flap on the unit rolls back then tucks away inside the ceiling, rather than having it open behind the unit like many competitors, is something that has to be seen. That is their patented mechanism and really, aesthetically, there is nothing close to it on the market. It’s the first thing the client sees when the unit opens and the finishing touch when they send the TV back up.

What features would you like to see changed or added?
Honestly, the only real issues we’ve had with the product was the difficulties dealing with international shipping, and Future Automation is resolving this with an East Coast presence in the U.S. A wish list item would be two-way feedback of the lift status.
