Kordz (Booth #5847) has partnered with Quantum Data, a provider of solutions for testing emerging video technologies. Together the partnership brings AV installers a new portable testing device, the 780 Handheld Test Instrument for HDMI, to conduct basic tests of video displays and audio systems.

The 780 Handheld Test Instrument for HDMI.

The 780 Handheld Test Instrument, a battery-powered, portable multimedia pattern generator, enables integrators to conduct quick, on-site verification testing of HDMI systems and analog video displays. A color touch display allows the installer to view the incoming video image and metadata on the built-in screen.

“Working with a technology leader like Kordz not only provides Quantum Data a very technically-aware distributor, but has also provided us valuable insight into technical requirements associated with HDMI cable testing,” said Chuck Evans, general sales manager or Quantum Data. “We are very pleased to have Kordz as one of our partners.”

The device is equipped with both a reference source and a reference sink HDMI interface, enabling tests of the audio and video related protocols (HDCP, EDID, CEC and infoframes) of any HDMI device: sources, repeaters and sinks. Because the 780 has both an HDMI output and an HDMI input, integrators can test HDMI cables and systems with splitters, extenders and switches as well as with the optional pixel error rate test feature.

Within the standard testing functions, the 780 provides the flexibility and versatility for testing a wide range of video timings, video modes and test patterns. The 780 enables integrators to test and calibrate high-definition TVs with a variety of standard patterns and formats, including deep color and HDMI 1.4a 3D formats. Not just for video, the 780 offers testing capabilities for all the standard HDMI audio formats (including high bit rate audio), sampling rates and bit depths are provided.

“Quantum Data products are known for their cutting-edge performance with developing technologies in the consumer electronics industry,” said Michael Schaller, director of Kordz USA. “This partnership is an extension of the Kordz quality product offerings to help verify product capability and make life easier for the custom installer.”
