In CEDIA EXPO SR-16, Professional Home Cinema (PHC) will demo is new Programmable Modular Amplifier, a small, powerful, programmable product that delivers pro-grade technologies and performance for the home, according to the company.

PHC’s PMA offers four channels and employs dealer programmable DSP and system calibration abilities in multiple configurations of 200, 500, or 1,000 watts per channel. It also features ultra-high resolution FIR filtering, and proprietary Microsoft Windows Utility.

According to the company, the amps easily set up through the PMA Manager software, allowing installers to set EQ curves, adjust gain values and other customized settings.

PHC wants integrators to quickly achieve highly refined system performance without complicated test equipment, measurements, or needing to understand complex acoustical equations. Any system can be quickly and precisely optimized for speaker placement and corrected for environmental influences such as screens and fabrics placed in front of loudspeakers, and speaker placement near walls. In addition, PMA provides four channels of independently programmable DSP driven power amps (up to 4000 watts total) housed in a single lightweight 2-RU chassis, saving rack space and requiring only one person to install.

PMA is the first product to employ sophisticated FIR digital filtering in the home environment elevating PHC loudspeaker performance to previously unobtainable levels of accuracy.

PMA’s proprietary Microsoft Windows Utility is a user-friendly set-up system operated from the integrators laptop computer via a Mini-USB connection. It provides drop-down menus that avoid engineering jargon and provides calibration solutions in plain English.

For installed speakers, PMA provides precise DSP correction for perforated screen high frequency roll-off and other environmental influences derived from measurements of product samples provided by screen and fabric manufacturing companies.
