Proficient Audio’s M80 Receiver

Proficient Audio’s new M80 receiver has gone into production. The product is expected to be available to dealers September 2009.

The M80 is one of only a few receivers designed specifically to meet the needs of custom installers. The receiver includes all technologies necessary for accurate reproduction of Blu-ray Discs, video games, and other advanced media. It features DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD lossless audio, four HDMI inputs, and Faroudja DCDi Cinema video processing. Seven 130-watt high-current Class AB amplifiers deliver superb audio quality and a high-damping factor, for precise control of any speaker.

“We’re excited to get the M80 into production,” Proficient Audio’s president, Keith Marshall, said. “Through the last year, we’ve been refining the design, evaluating different audio and video technologies, and soliciting feedback from our dealers in order to make sure the M80 delivers everything they need for their home theater and media room designs.”

The M80 includes many features specific to the needs of custom installers. A full set of line outputs allows the addition of larger amplifiers, allowing the M80 to operate in even the biggest home theaters. An optional iPod dock lets consumers view and browse the content of their iPods on any video display connected to the M80, so they can change the music without getting up. The M80’s cool-running amplifiers are designed to operate in any normally ventilated equipment cabinet, and a full set of menu controls on the front panel permits setup changes without use of the remote control.

“With this receiver, we’re now the only company that can deliver a single-brand component solution for residential custom-installed audio,” Marshall said. “We have home theater electronics with the M80; multi-room audio electronics with our M4 and M6 controllers and our M40 receiver; and complete lines of subwoofers, in-ceiling, in-wall, on-wall and outdoor speakers.”
