Atlona Ships 4K Extender Kit

Atlona is now shipping its AT-UHD-EX-100CEA-KIT, a two-piece HDBaseT transmitter/receiver kit which enables 4K HDMI transmission over category cable with Ethernet pass through, RS-232, IR control, and PoE.

Atlona is now shipping its AT-UHD-EX-100CEA-KIT, a two-piece HDBaseT transmitter/receiver kit which enables 4K HDMI transmission up to 328 feet (100 meters) over category cable with Ethernet pass through, RS-232 and IR control and Power over Ethernet. It is also the first to provide return optical audio from receiver to transmitter (e.g. TV to an AV receiver). It is designed for use in residential installations with AV receivers and set-top-boxes located too far from displays to be reached by HDMI cables.

“The new extender kit is the industry’s first-single cable solution that sends video from the set-top box to the TV and digital audio from the TV to the AV receiver,” said Joshua Castro, product manager at Atlona. “Now it is possible to deliver high quality audio from embedded TV apps to the audio system in a much more efficient way that also simplifies installation. As the sophistication of home entertainment systems increases, the installations are becoming more complex—and this kit represents our commitment to forward-thinking and well-designed connectivity solutions.”

The AT-UHD-EX-100CEA-KIT transmits video signals up to 4K/UHD at 60Hz with 8-bit color and 4:2:0 chroma subsampling with embedded multi-channel audio and remote 48V power for the receiver. A digital pathway returns multi-channel audio (including Dolby or DTS up to 5.1) from a smart TV to an AV receiver via the HDBaseT link; TOSLINK optical connectors are provided on both the receiver and transmitter. This pathway supports off-the-air tuners in many TV sets, gaming systems, and smart TVs with internal apps such as Amazon, Prime Video, Hulu, and Netflix.

Additionally, the AT-UHD-EX-100CEA-KIT extends Ethernet, RS-232, and IR control commands. The kit is HDCP 2.2 compliant and supports EDID communication. Its 12v IR system is compatible with Xantech, SpeakerCraft and Niles IR RX sensor cables.

The AT-UHD-EX-100CEA-KIT features front panel LEDs for the monitoring of system status and a USB firmware port that enables easy field updates. Both transmitter and receiver feature one-third rack width metal enclosures for easy rack mounting with rear panel I/O ports for uncluttered wire management.
