As I’m sure is true of many of our readers, most of us at Resi Systems enjoy a good great beer.
Jeremy Glowacki, Lindsey Adler, Kirsten Nelson, Chuck Ansbacher… those guys will all pour back a few pints of delicious, hand-crafted ale. (To be fair, Kirsten can probably more often be found drinking a dram of peat-soaked single malt.) But two of us at Resi *love* good beer. Derek “Beard” Dellinger and I have taken our love for beer to the next, NEXT level.
Derek writes a terrific beer-filled blog entitled “Bear Flavored” where he reviews beer, talks about brewing beer, and gives an encyclopedic run down on hop varieties and other things beerology related. I have reviewed about 200 beers on my site, “John Sciacca Writes”, comparing hop-juice-filled IPAs to things like Kurosawa films and drinking a rape whistle. (And not in a good way.)
Last night, Katye Bennett of KMB Communications forwarded me a link to a blog that I think all our CEDIA EXPO-bound Resi readers would enjoy. Written by Ihiji’s Michael Maniscalco, it details five very cool breweries near the Colorado Convention Center. I know the post is legit because Maniscalco name-drops Pliny the Elder at the end, a beer that made my “Top 10 Best IPAs I’ve Ever Tasted” list.

We ihijians love our craft beer. We love it so much it made our CEDIA EXPO video #DontNotGo. One of the best things about having CEDIA EXPO back in Denver is getting to enjoy some of the town while you are there. So, we wanted to share some recommendations on good beer in Denver so that you can enjoy some cold local suds as well.
Here’s our list (in no particular order):
Crooked Stave
Artisian wild, funky and sour beers! You’re not going to find your typical big IPA but this is one you don’t want to miss. A beer nerd’s delight.
Great Divide
Great Divide Brewing Company serves big, strong and delicious beers around the country. They have a nice little tap room just a short walk from the trade show floor where you can find it fresh!
Strange Brewing Co.
A cool little brewery founded by two out-of-work IT guys that make some great beer. Last time anyone from ihiji was there they also had a great little food truck where you could snack while you enjoyed their craft brews.
Wynkoop
A brewpub in downtown Denver, this is an old staple where you can get good beer and food. They have a good number of pool tables to hang out after show hours. It’s walkable from the show, but you can also take the mall-bus down that direction.
Prost Brewing
Prost serves up nothing but German stlyle brews that they make in house. Nice patio, nice view and cold beers made in German tradition. Like.
While you’re in town there are a few bars in Denver with the most delicious Pliny The Elder IPA from California. If you see it, try it and thank us later!
