#CEDIAShares: Nortek

Bill Hensley shares why he's excited about the company's first CEDIA as Nortek Security & Control.

In our series of #CEDIAShares blogs, we’re talking with exhibitors about the hottest technologies and trends they’re looking to see at CEDIA 2018.

Q&A with Bill Hensley, Sr. Director, Marketing, Nortek Security & Control

Q: Why CEDIA?

Bill Hensley: CEDIA is, of course, an excellent opportunity for us to showcase our latest connected smart home innovations, products, and programs. But it’s more than just us presenting to dealers; it’s the ideal chance for us to listen to integrators from all across the country—and all over the world—and hear directly about the challenges and opportunities they are facing in the channel. This is an essential part of our ongoing commitment to deliver solutions that solve dealers’ problems and elevate their businesses. A number of the new product introductions we are making at CEDIA this year are based on input and requests from our dealer base.

Q: What is the most exciting trend you expect to see at the show?

BH: Advancements in voice technologies are creating exciting opportunities in the control category and we expect to see continued development. We’ll be showcasing our ELAN integrations with Alexa and Google Assistant. Our commitment is for ELAN to always deliver the most intuitive and easy-to-use interface of any control system, and these integrations are right in the wheelhouse of that commitment.

Video analytics and artificial intelligence represent other exciting trends. With the recent Nortek acquisition of IntelliVision, we’ll be showcasing new opportunities and integrations across several parts of the ELAN product line. These are all designed to make more intuitive solutions integrators can bring to their customers.

Q: What will you focus on at the show?

BH: A main focus in the Nortek Security & Control booth will be new ELAN control solutions, including our new remote, door station, touch panel, and more. As mentioned, new integrations leveraging our video analytics and voice technologies will be on display. We’ll also showcase some new solutions in the power category, new audio products, security integrations, and access control systems—all designed to create real opportunities for integrators.

This is our first CEDIA as Nortek Security & Control and we promise it to be the best ever.
