In our series of #CEDIAShares blogs, we’re talking with exhibitors about the hottest technologies and trends they’re looking to see at CEDIA Expo/CIX 2025.

Q&A with Maren Gehling, director of sales, custom home & integration, Hunter Douglas.

Why exhibit at CEDIA Expo/CIX 2025?
We can’t discount how important in-person events are for a category like ours; no brochure can replicate the feel of a fabric or replicate a PowerView scene in action. CEDIA Expo puts those experiences front and center, gathering integrators, decision makers, manufacturers, and innovators under one roof. For us at Hunter Douglas, it feels like a homecoming — reconnecting with longtime partners while opening the door to new relationships. We value the opportunity to learn directly from the field, gaining insights that help us better support our dealers and elevate awareness around design-forward, technology-driven solutions.

What is the most exciting trend you expect to see at the show?
One of the trends I’m most excited about at CEDIA 2025 is the continued emphasis on wellness in both technology and design, as well as the growth of the power management category. So much of what we do revolves around how people feel in their spaces. The best technology doesn’t just impress — it enhances comfort, efficiency, and overall livability. When systems are thoughtfully designed, improved quality of life becomes a natural outcome. Of course, I love seeing the ultra-luxurious, just-because tech — transparent TVs, sculptural speakers, and other showstoppers that push the boundaries of design and imagination. But what really excites me is the momentum behind power management. It’s a forward-thinking category with real, long-term benefits for homeowners. It also elevates the role of integrators, making them essential partners early in the construction process. That kind of impact is where innovation meets real-world value. I live in North Carolina and saw my state crippled in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. The storm exposed the weaknesses within the power infrastructure and brought to light the need for better and smarter solutions. I’m excited to see the continued adoption and evolution of the category.

What will you focus on at the show?
My focus at CEDIA 2025 is all about making meaningful connections. After being away on maternity leave last year, I’m excited to reconnect with familiar faces and build new relationships across the industry. I’m especially passionate about helping integrators overcome project challenges and educating them on our diverse range of product styles and services. My goal is always to leave each conversation having made a real impact — whether that’s helping someone close a sale, solve a problem, or rethink their approach to window coverings in a way that adds value to their projects.
