Q&A with Jeff Goldstein, Head Of Sales, Custom Installation Channel, Sony Electronics
RESI: Why should attendees connect with you virtually at CEDIA Expo?
JEFF GOLDSTEIN: Sony is one of the CI channel’s most dedicated partners for two key reasons—our relentless commitment to quality and our pursuit of best-in-class service. Our range of products and full home theater solutions are something only Sony can offer end-to-end, and we are proud of the powerful relationship we have built with our dealers.
Sony is a founding member of CEDIA and CEDIA Expo, and this is our 31st year participating. This year, our booth theme is “Premium Products and Premier Partnerships,” which is why we’re excited to use the Expo as an opportunity to strengthen our relationships with our incredible dealers, give them a preview of some of the great products that will become available to them this year, and also discuss how we can support them in this rapidly changing market environment.
COVID-19 has impacted the global market substantially, which is why we developed a CI Recovery Marketing program to quickly respond. This program focuses on “upgrade” messaging to drive quick turnaround sales. It also includes CRM training, to help dealers engage existing clients in a new format, and a digital toolkit, which assists dealers with their virtual efforts by offering CRM templates, web banners, direct mail assets, ads, and social media assistance. We hope this program offers more support, in addition to our Diamond Dealer program, SURE pricing and independent sales rep program.
RESI: What’s the one product you’re introducing that attendees should see and why?
JG: Sony offers the widest selection of displays—both 4K and 8K, LED and OLED—and they’re all built for custom installation. That’s why we’d love for attendees to check out our FY20 TV lineup, which features proprietary technologies previously only found in Sony’s Master Series models. They also deliver the most immersive viewing experience in their class, with premium large screens created to deliver content the way creators intended. Be sure to check out the Master Series A9S BRAVIA OLED TV, which is newly available to the CI channel. Derived from its bigger brother A9G, the A9S is the best of the best in a smaller size. Customers can now enjoy Sony’s incredible OLED picture quality and cinematic audio in a beautifully compact 48” form.
In addition to TV, attendees should also experience our incredible new projectors. We’ll be showcasing a range of home cinema projector models to elevate consumers’ immersive viewing experience. Of note, Sony’s new lamp VPL-VW715ES and laser VPL-VW915ES models offer an incredibly clear HDR experience by implementing new picture processor “X1 for projector,” based on technology used for Sony’s best-in-class TVs. Sony will also feature its new flagship 4K SXRD laser projector VPL-GTZ380. This groundbreaking projector incorporates a newly-developed 0.74-inch native 4K SXRD panel with improved light stability and a new laser light source. This enables the model to achieve an impressive 10,000 lumens and a wide color gamut of 100 percent DCI-P3 without any loss of brightness.
Finally, what is great picture without great sound? Sony will also display a wide variety of its powerful home theater receivers, soundbars, and speakers. With immersive, studio-quality sound, attendees can expect a best-in-class acoustic experience when exploring our latest audio innovations. We’d love attendees to check out the HT-G700, a stylish Dolby Atmos-enabled soundbar that recently launched.
