Elite Prime Vision, the dedicated Custom Installer division of Elite Screens Inc., announced the development of its PolarStar ambient light-rejecting projection screen with 3D polarization.
“Although 3D home theater is fun once in a while, customers want a versatile solution that gives stunning picture quality the other 99 percent of the time,” said David Rodgers, marketing manager, Elite Screens, Inc. “Current trends show that home theater enthusiasts like 3D but don’t want to be stuck with it 24/7. That is why we developed an angular reflective material that is polarized for 3D but is equally serviceable as a 2D ambient light-rejecting material so that our customers get exactly what they want in a projection screen, when they want it.”
The PolarStar is EPV’s latest edition to its line of ambient light-rejecting projection screens. Its uses Elite’s Airbright 5D material for superb brightness and contrast through a combination of its highly reflective surface coated by a gray diffusion layer. This angular-reflective screen material has a brightness of 1.8 gain and a 120 º wide viewing angle making it ideal for home cinema and commercial applications alike, according to the company.
The material is an unsupported PVC (tension) multi-layer screen fabric with enhanced flatness and durability. The Silver-Gray protective surface coating is a reflective compound that is polarized to allow its use in active or passive 3D presentations while maintaining 92 percent polarization levels. It is designed to enhance a higher contrast ratio while playing in high definition video modes such as 4K, 1080P, 720P, WXGA and XGA formats. It utilizes the same 3.5-inch framework seen on the Peregrine series of fixed-frame projection screens.
Elite’s PolarStar projection screens are polarized for either 3D or standard 2D presentations with superior ambient light rejecting qualities. The material’s brightness and contrast are ideal for home cinema or commercial applications alike. The 1.8 gain screen material uses a Silver-Gray protective reflective surface compound that is textured to ensure the depth of use in 3D presentations with 92 percent retained polarization. This enhances higher contrast ratios while playing in high definition video modes such as 4K, 1080P, 720P, WXGA and XGA formats.
