HTSA Spring Event Set for San Diego Next Week Hotel Del Coronado is backdrop for HTSA Spring Conference’s 2.5 days of education, motivation, and networking.By RS Staff Published: March 22, 2017 ⋅ Updated: April 15, 2019 Hotel del Coronado, San DiegoHome Technology Specialists of America (HTSA), the hybrid retail and custom integration buying group, will hold its 2017 Spring Conference at the majestic Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, CA, March 27-30, 2017. The Hotel Del Coronado will serve as the backdrop for the group’s first major event of 2017, featuring a full two-and-a-half day agenda featuring business seminars, custom educational programs, networking opportunities, and a keynote presentation. HTSA holds multiple member events throughout the year, but the Spring Conference is one of its most important as it sets the tone for the rest of the year. As one of the first major industry buying groups, HTSA is committed to providing its members events that offer an important mix of powerful educational sessions, thoughtful and challenging keynote presentations featuring leading experts in their fields, copious networking opportunities—both for members and vendors—and fun events designed to facilitate the building of strong and direct personal relationships. The 2017 Spring Conference opens on Tuesday, March 28 with a members-only presentation by executive director Jon Robbins on the state of the union along with multiple presentations by selected vendor partners. The general session opens in the afternoon to all attendees with a key presentation on a topic of great significance to the industry: residential network system security. In the wake of last year’s major DDoS attack, many in the industry have recognized the need to improve system security. HTSA tackles this topic head on with a key presentation by cybersecurity expert Rob Krug of SonicWall titled The Connected Home…A Hacker’s Paradise. SonicWall is one of the industry’s most trusted security partners, protecting millions of networks worldwide. Krug will outline both the breadth and depth of the vulnerability of residential systems to outside intrusion, and offer solutions any integrator can implement to make sure their clients are protected. Other Opening Day sessions include a tutorial from Netsertive’s Tim McClain on how to leverage the power of Linked In to better connect with high net worth individuals, as well as with trade partners. And from Google, executive Brandan Jacobsen will discuss how members can better use video to drive their bottom line. Day 1 concludes with a cocktail party and dinner served on Hotel Del Coronado’s picturesque Windsor Lawn which, in addition to featuring lush landscaping and swaying palm trees, directly overlooks the Pacific Ocean for a spectacular visual backdrop to the occasion. Wednesday, Day 2 of the event, will feature a keynote presentation, titled Get a Grip on Your Business – Six Keys to Getting What You Want from Your Entrepreneurial Business, by Mr. Mike Paton. Paton is an author, business coach, and award-winning speaker who is an expert in EOS—Entrepreneurial Operating System—a program created by Gino Wickman that helps entrepreneurs gain greater control over their businesses and guide them towards greater success. Paton offers practical, real-world strategies that will help HTSA members make sure they are controlling their businesses, and not letting their businesses control them. In addition to his keynote presentation, Paton will also facilitate a “Traction Roundtable” exercise where members will divide into small groups to discuss the principles they learned during the keynote presentation. The roundtable exercise will be followed by a group Question & Answer session with Paton. After a full day of training, members will get to choose from a group of organized on-site and off-site fun activities. The day will be capped off with a cocktail party and dinner at famed Il Fornaio restaurant. Thursday—Day 3 of the event—offers a half-day agenda with one-on-one meetings where members have the opportunity to meet directly with the management of HTSA vendors to discuss any questions and issues they may have in detail. In addition, the agenda calls for multiple breakout sessions on selected contemporary business topics.
