Pakedge BakPak App Configures Components

Pakedge Device and Software has introduced the BakPak Apple IOS app, which enables an iPad or iPhone to reboot and remotely power cycle individual ports on any Pakedge PoE switch and power distribution unit.

Pakedge’s BakPak app

The BakPak app, currently available in the iTunes store, allows an Apple iOS 4.3 device, through the most current iPad, iPhone, or iPod, to remotely power cycle the PoE ports on Pakedge switches or power distribution units. Installers can do this either on the job or from anywhere with an internet connection.

In addition, the app lets installers add multiple jobs/locations to their project databases, with multiple devices per location. Systems integrators can now store all their device profiles and settings on their iPad or iPhone for immediate access wherever they go. In addition, they can back up all their profiles and settings to iCloud, or a local device, and can then load their settings to a different iPad or iPhone.

When installers are on a job location, they can use their iPad or iPhone to check the data or PoE status of their devices by sending commands to the devices themselves and looking at their front panel LEDs. Users can also rename the ports to show the names of the equipment that is connected to the ports in the BakPak app.

“Our BakPak app gives Pakedge integrators a convenient new tool for configuring their customers’ systems, as well as for storing and backing up customer data,” said Victor Pak, president and CEO of Pakedge. “It’s part of our ongoing efforts to make life easier for our installers and enable them to better serve their clients.”
