CEDIA In-Person Education Offerings Returning

Taking place at its Fishers, IN HQ, courses include the popular Home Theater Boot Camp and Advanced Networking Boot Camp, among others.

CEDIA is set to resume offering a select number of in-person training opportunities at CEDIA headquarters in the coming months. The decision comes after extensive consideration and mindful planning. Through a series of comprehensive, safety-focused measures, CEDIA will host the courses at the training facility at the CEDIA Global Headquarters in Fishers, IN. The first training opportunity, Cabling and Infrastructure Technician (CIT) Program, is a hybrid course being offered for the first time and the others will include the popular Home Theater Boot Camp and Advanced Networking Boot Camp.

“The safety of our learners and instructors is paramount,” says CEDIA vice president of technology application and workforce Ian Bryant, “and we wouldn’t consider relaunching face-to-face learning if we hadn’t taken every precaution imaginable to provide a safe environment that’s suited for learning. The personal attention and relevant, job-focused skills attendees will receive are unmatched and we take great satisfaction in the opportunity to unleash some of our most in-depth learning opportunities and introduce a new hybrid course — the highly-anticipated CIT Program. Preparation and safety are our top priorities and these offerings thread the needle for industry learners.”

The Cabling & Infrastructure Technician (CIT) Program

The new CIT Program, enrolling now at CEDIA.net, will be presented as a hybrid course. Designed for those who are new to the industry, the program involves self-paced online learning and a hands-on, in-person component August 17-19 at the CEDIA training facility.

Participants will gain foundational skills through an expertly-crafted, holistic approach teaching real-world applications from the pre-wire and first fix to trim-out and second fix phases of a project. The online learning will set a baseline for new-to-the-industry technicians, covering topics including electricity basics, jobsite safety, documentation, tools, and cabling properties.

During the face-to-face portion of the program, participants will learn how to perform tasks commonly encountered every day on the job site, including running and terminating cabling, verification testing, and mounting and installation of common components like speakers, displays, and cameras.

At the end of the program, learners will participate in a final review and have an opportunity to sit for the recently-launched CEDIA Cabling and Infrastructure Technician certification exam.

Home Theater Boot Camp and Advanced Networking Boot Camp

CEDIA will be hosting two of the most popular training opportunities at the CEDIA Global Headquarters later in August.

The Home Theater Boot Camp, slated for August 20-22, is designed to skill up learners who already have an understanding of basic home theater concepts and equipment, preparing them to properly install, set up, and calibrate a home theater or media room system.

The Advanced Networking Boot Camp, scheduled for August 25-27, will take those who possess a basic knowledge of fundamental home networking concepts and boost their project delivery skills and abilities in areas such as VLAN and QoS networking, IP communication, wireless network design, residential network security, and secure remote network access.

Focused on Safety

Prior to being on-site for the program, learners must complete a questionnaire detailing their exposure and symptoms of COVID-19. While on-site, COVID-19 safety measures will include: required mask-wearing by learners and instructors at all times in the building, daily temperature checks before entering the building, and reduced class sizes allowing for CDC-recommended social distancing.
