Advancing Eco-Audio

Harary Venture Takes Green Stamp Up a Notch

The EVA SCR400 is a fullfeatured dock radio designed to deliver high performance from a compact size while over half the materials used are recyclable, renewable, and biodegradable materials. With news last month that audio industry veteran Eli Harary was launching a new luxury brand called AudioXperts, a few details of what the first products would look like trickled in, including an eco-friendly tabletop line that takes the green trend a bit beyond what other environmentally marketed products do.

The EVA music systems were designed to deliver high performance from a compact size and maximize the use of recyclable, renewable, and biodegradable materials. As far as using earth-friendly materials goes, “well over half of the materials used in our EVA family of products are made from renewable resources,” Harary told Residential Systems.

These materials include a natural, woven wool external cover, accented by bamboo wood parts. “We specifically chose bamboo because, compared to other wood materials, it is a considerably more renewable resource and does not nearly affect the worldwide CO2 as the use of other materials,” he said. “The internal cabinet structure of the speakers is also created with an eco-friendly plant starch-based bio-plastic rather than wood.”

Bringing a new product to market that simply uses the energy efficiency tag to consider itself eco-friendly was not the goal for AudioXperts. In fact, the decision to make tabletop speakers its eco-line was based on the category’s potential for maximizing renewable resources in the design.

“The product idea was generated around the notion of developing an audio solution that used as much renewable and eco-friendly material as possible. I arrived at the conclusion that it would be possible to apply this goal to small table-top products, and the design process moved forward from there,” Harary described. “We identified several materials that we felt would be easily recognizable as eco-friendly by most people and started to fashion the products around those. As we began the engineering effort, each step was reviewed to see what environmentally-friendly materials could be substituted for traditional parts.”

It’s not just the strong eco foundation for the EVA family that aims to distinguish the tabletop audio solutions from others in the crowded category. “EVA’s eco-friendly features are certainly an important element of the product line, as is the speakers’ compact size,” Harary added. “In developing EVA, we also were troubled by all of the ‘stereo’ products that were being made available to the consumer, and none of them offered the ability to get any true stereo separation, so for the majority of the EVA products there are ‘plus’ channels available to help create a true stereo listening experience.”

The other products from AudioXperts are all designed to address other specific issues in the market, so while they don’t directly focus on ecofriendliness, “all of our electronic based products will meet the most rigorous standards on power consumption,” Harary said.

EVA models include a dock FM radio with Bluetooth, a dock FM/DAB+ radio with Bluetooth, and a dock speaker with Bluetooth. All feature a woven wool cover and bamboo case, touch controls, Bluetooth audio streaming with the CSR aptX codec, a digital optical connection for adding an Apple Airport Express, and an expansion port for an optional +Channel Speaker.

Filling a Market Gap in Luxury Audio

Eli HararyIn addition to the EVA tabletop line, AudioXperts’ product launch includes two other product categories all targeting a specific gap in the luxury audio product market.

“It is our belief that the quality-driven, luxury customer, that appreciates superior performance and quality design in a product that is also simple to use, is being vastly under-served,” said Eli Harary, AudioXperts president.

Encased in a sleek and simple smoked glass and aluminum enclosure, the 4TV Model 2112 virtual surround sound console is a complete, one-piece, high performance 2.1 channel music and surround sound system that is designed to eliminate confusion, chaos, and clutter. A built-in subwoofer provides powerful bass in a one-piece solution.

The Korners is a range of high-performance component loudspeakers and subwoofers that truly integrate into a living space. The loudspeakers are super slim in design and high quality in sound. The Korners speaker is tailor made to fit comfortably in the corner of any room and fill the surrounding space with high performance sound.

The EVA line consists of the EVA SCR400, a full-featured dock radio, and the EVA BLU, a stereo portable Bluetooth speaker.
