San Francisco, CA–According to Dolby Laboratories, the first PlayStation 2 game to be released with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound is “The Bouncer,” developed by Square Co. Ltd. The new game puts the player in the role of a bar bouncer who must rescue his best friend from his surly kidnappers by any means necessary.

“Our commitment to giving gamers the best and most realistic gaming experience led us to use Dolby Digital 5.1 sound for The Bouncer,” said Takashi Tokita, director, The Bouncer, Square Co. Ltd. “Dolby Digital draws the player right into the action with the sounds of the colossal aircraft engine, gigantic explosions, and ambient street life.”

The Bouncer is currently available to PlayStation 2 gamers in Japan and will be on shelves in the United States in March 2001. For more information about Dolby Laboratories or Dolby technologies, visit www.dolby.com.
